Increased Need for Teleradiology Services
According to the American College of Radiology (ACR) and and the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA),
the shortage of radiologists will continue well into the new millennium. The practice of radiology as we know it is
changing to meet this critical shortage. The technology exists for the rapid transmission and interpretation of diagnostic
medical images sent to us world wide.
This technology is known as teleradiology or
telemedicine.
Teleradiology allows medical imaging interpretations via telecommunications link.
Courier service is provided for immediate movement of patient examinations to our facility for interpretation.
This can be done while a telecommunications link is established to your location.
Nighthawk Radiology and Day Coverage Radiology Services
Excalibur offers nighthawk radiology services, and
day radiology services, and weekend coverage services via
teleradiology technology.
With teleradiology, patients can quickly have diagnostic imaging interpreted without requiring a radiologist on site. Within 24 hours,
doctors can have interpretations and begin patient treatment. Teleradiology services allow hospitals to treat patients round the clock.
Using telecommunications links, doctors can submit and receive diagnostic imaging interpretations for all shifts including nights,
days, and weekend coverages.
